Letter: Time to stop fireworks

By Paul Akin, VANCOUVER
Published: July 11, 2024, 6:00am

Another Fourth of July has passed with all our law-abiding citizens who can buy on the 28th and try to hold their angst till the Fourth, which most can’t. They have to blow something off sporadically every night.

Why don’t we leave the pyrotechnics to the people who know what they’re doing and they don’t blow neighborhoods up? It’s not what independence is about. Shaking windows and making as much noise for as long as your dollars can go and causing so many pets to turn into nervous puddles.

When are our commissioners going to ban fireworks? I can hardly wait for New Year’s to see all this happen again. Oh boy. Our dog thanks you, also. I also enjoy picking up and cleaning up after the night of mayhem.
