Letter: Government investment pays off

The Columbian

At USDA Rural Development, our team is dedicated to expanding opportunities and investments in rural and Indigenous communities across the state of Washington.

Recently, we awarded $23,490 to winery businesses in Clark County through the Rural Energy for America Program to support their clean-energy and energy-efficiency projects. In this round, Isadore Farms LLC, will use their grant for the purchase and installation of a 16 kilowatt solar array. The project will result in about $1,300 per year in savings and will generate 18,000 kilowatt hours per year, which is enough energy to power two homes.

The positive impacts are real. These investments lower utility costs and carbon emissions, offering a significant double win for small businesses. This initiative showcases the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to strengthening rural economies.

Together, America prospers.
