Letter: Support Fire District 6

By Edward Faulk, Vancouver
Published: July 8, 2024, 6:00am

I am a resident of Fire District 6 and have been following the levy lid lift our fire district is requesting voters consider supporting during the August primary election.

The fire levy lid lift would fund qualified emergency personnel to respond to our higher call volumes, improve training, and replace apparatus and equipment. These service needs have existed for a long period of time, but they are even more necessary today to meet the rapid population growth in our area. I want to extend my thanks to the district and the board of commissioners for being proactive in an effort to address the need for emergency services.

It is important to have adequate fire and Emergency Medical Services response for residents and businesses. Our tax dollars built this system to be prepared to handle emergencies. It is imperative we continue to support Fire District 6.

I ask that our community members consider the value of emergency services and support our first responders as they work to provide safety for us. We can do this by prioritizing our tax dollars through a “yes” vote for the upcoming levy lid lift for Fire District 6.
