There is plenty to know about Joe Biden and Donald Trump at this point. Their long lives in the public eye speak for themselves. The evidence is clear and present as to their character, qualifications and their intent: One for service and one for personal gratification and abuse of power.
The recent debate offered each candidate for the presidency of the United States one- and two-minute opportunities to respond to questions regarding immensely complicated issues such as climate change, the economy, immigration and the right for women to make decisions regarding their own lives and health.
The obvious disadvantage was that one candidate was forced to waste his time responding to the other candidate’s torrent of bombastic, blatant lies; fabrications that amounted to nonsense.
And yet this gibberish seemed to earn the fabulist a win in public opinion.
If you weren’t already prepared to choose the candidate you felt you could trust to lead the most powerful democracy in the world through the next four years of threats from climate change, foreign dictators and domestic divides, the choice was made obvious: a seasoned statesman or a huckster and convicted felon.
