Three people were injured in a crash late Saturday night when a driver reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head on, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Thomas P. Chirokov, 28, of Vancouver faces eluding and vehicular assault allegations in connection with the crash, according to a WSP crash memo.

Chirokov was southbound on state Highway 503 at Padden Parkway in the Orchards area about 9:20 p.m. in a 2019 Dodge Charger when, according to WSP, he crossed the barrier into the northbound lanes and hit a 2013 Nissan driven by Salvador V. Guiterrez, 55, of Oregon City, Ore.

A 2012 Ford Focus driven by Yonya M. Deshiell, 43, of Vancouver rear-ended the Nissan. The crash ended up blocking the northbound lanes.

Gutierrez and two of his three passengers, Claudia Recoba Cruz, 46, and Elizabeth Gutierrez, 18, both of Oregon City, were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for injuries. Everyone in the Nissan, including a 17-year-old whose name was withheld, was wearing a seat belt.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Both Deshiell and Chirokov were uninjured.

The Dodge and the Nissan were both totaled.

According to WSP, drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
