Boys basketball: Demaree Collins breaks 1,000-point career mark in Skyview’s win over Mountain View

Demaree Collins scored 21 points to become the fourth Skyview boys basketball player to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his career as the Storm beat Mountain View 67-40 in a non-league game on Friday.

Collins needed 20 points to reach 1,000 career points and got his 20th point on a 3-pointer in the third quarter, joining Jon Bond, Alex Schumacher and Kyle Gruhler in the 1,000-point club at Skyview.

Gavin Perdue and Ryan Hanson each added 10 points for the Storm. Skyview was led by Daniel Dolev’s 12 points.

KELSO 65, PRAIRIE 63 — Hayden Yore hit a layup with 0.7 seconds left to lift Kelso.

Malachi Patton hit a late 3-pointer to give Prairie the lead in the final minute. But Kelso was able to tie the game on a pair of free throws.

Prairie got a block out of bounds on defense with a couple of seconds left, but Yore was able to score the winning basket on the inbounds play.

Yore finished with 21 for Kelso, and Michael Henderson added 18 as the Hilanders improved to 4-1 in the 3A GSHL, a half-game behind Evergreen.

Josh Crane scored 22 points and Carson Morningstar added 15 for Prairie, which fell to 3-3 in league.

CAMAS 76, EVERGREEN 44 — Beckett Currie scored 17 points to lead four Papermakers in double figures.

Jace VanVoorhis added 14 points and Cade Washington and Matthew Sitler each had 12 for Camas. 

Arthur Ban had 11 points to lead Evergreen.

COLUMBIA RIVER 57, HUDSON’S BAY 18 — Aaron Hoey scored 17 points and Miles Fitzwilson added 12 to lead River to a 2A GSHL win.

STEVENSON 61, LA CENTER 48 — Chris Blackledge scored 34 points to help rally Stevenson from an early deficit on the road.

La Center came out hot, taking a 23-11 lead after one quarter. But Stevenson cut the deficit to 29-21 by halftime. 

With Blackledge scoring 14 points in the third quarter, the Bulldogs surged into the lead to stay. 

Jayce Grotte scored 21 points for La Center on seven 3-pointers.
