Prairie girls basketball held off a fourth-quarter charge to earn a 55-53 win over Kelso on Monday.
The host Falcons led by 15 points early in the fourth quarter. But Kelso chipped away and pulled within 55-53 on Peyton Champagne’s 3-pointer with four seconds to play.
Prairie missed two free throws that would have put the game away, but a Kelso turnover prevented a chance for a last-second shot.
Claire Smith scored 10 points to lead Prairie, which improved to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League. Emma Smith and Janae Taison each added nine points.
Karsyn Hall had 18 points to lead Kelso (8-8, 3-2). Champagne had 15 points and eight rebounds while Prairie’s defense held leading scorer Bregan Ruhland to two points.
MOUNTAIN VIEW 53, BATTLE GROUND 39 — Mylee Thompson scored 16 points and hit four of the Thunder’s 10 3-pointers in a non-league road win.
Nina Peterson added 11 points and three 3-pointers for Mountain View (13-3). Jadlyn Senderson chipped in 10 points.
Skylar Fridrickson scored 12 points to lead Battle Ground (3-12).
HUDSON’S BAY 60, R.A. LONG 26 — Alana Stephens scored a game-high 25 points to lead three Eagles in double figures as Hudson’s Bay won the 2A GSHL game at Longview.
Stephens scored 19 points in the first half as Bay built a 35-18 advantage. Promise Bond had 16 points and Miranda Gonzalez 14 for Bay (11-3, 8-3 2A GSHL).
Evelyn Ofstun had 14 rebounds and seven points for R.A. Long (4-11, 2-9), and Brianna Garwood had eight points.
LA CENTER 46, CASTLE ROCK 44 — The Wildcats picked up their first Trico League win of the season by edging Castle Rock.
Paige Sherry scored 11 points and had eight rebounds for La Center (6-9, 1-4 Trico), while Talia Wise had 18 rebounds to go with seven points and five blocked shots. McKenzie Schockelt had eight rebounds.
Castle Rock (4-10, 1-4) was led in scoring by Laynee Logan’s game-high 19 points.
ADNA 79, MARK MORRIS 43 — One of the state’s top Class 2B teams put on a shooting clinic against the Monarchs in Longview.
Adna (16-1) made 34 field goals, including 10 3-pointers. Karsyn Freeman scored 31 points to lead the Pirates, who are No. 2 in the 2B state RPI rankings.
Reese Johnston scored 15 points to lead Mark Morris (8-7).
