Grab your camera, wander outdoors and snap some pictures for Friends of the Columbia Gorge’s ninth “GorgeGram: Framed in Beauty” photo contest.

This year’s theme touches on the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area’s status as one of the nation’s most photogenic areas, according to the organization. Categories include scenic eastern Gorge; scenic western Gorge; waterfalls, wildflowers and wildlife; underwater; night; youth photography; and camera phone photography.

Further details for each category and a submission page can be found at gorgefriends.org/photocontest. All photos must be owned by the photographer. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. March 17.

Gorge-based photographers Paloma Ayala and Vince Ready, as well as Portland-based photographer Debbie Asakawa, will serve as judges. Winning photographs will be announced in the spring.

Pro Photo Supply, a local photo equipment store, will sponsor the contest.
