Letter: Place attention on climate change

By Ellen Sward, Vancouver
Published: January 12, 2024, 6:00am

Climate change, accelerated by the burning of fossil fuels, now threatens the future of the planet as we know it. Scientists associate all of the following with a changing climate: Rising global temperatures and sea levels, warming oceans, extreme weather, and melting glaciers. Yet at recent televised town halls featuring Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, climate change was not mentioned by either candidate or host journalists. Not a word. Politicians of all stripes and the media have failed to sufficiently highlight this impending environmental disaster.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
