Letter: Make driving safer on McGillivray

By Johnnie L. Brown, Vancouver
Published: January 9, 2024, 6:00am

I live right off McGillivray Boulevard and do not like the so-called “improvements” being planned for it. I believe the planners have ignored the sentiments expressed at the public meetings.

In a more perfect world, the persons in charge of designing and maintaining this street should concentrate on eliminating rough and noisy surfaces; filling potholes; and making street striping, signs and lights more visible.

They should not make driving more difficult by eliminating existing street lanes or making them more narrow. They should remove bump strips and smooth manholes by placing covers on them. They should use cameras to control reckless drivers and speeders.

Their challenge is to make driving safer and more pleasant while less restrictive.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
