Letter: Lewallen dedicated, innovative

By Don Chaney, Camas
Published: January 9, 2024, 6:00am

During the past two years, I have watched my colleague on the Camas City Council as she fights to bring the best to Washington through her leadership. Her “people first” advocacy is contagious and showcases a remarkable ability to promote effective solutions for challenging issues.

Leslie Lewallen and I have a number of shared societal concerns. The deteriorating state of law and order locally and nationally, drug addiction, mental health, homelessness and unrestrained criminal activity united us to begin working on solutions for our community. Nationally, there’s a common worry about significant unlawful border crossings, resulting in an overburdening of local public infrastructures like social services, schools, and health care.

Leslie has demonstrated tireless dedication and innovation in resolving community problems, with a commendable willingness to listen closely to the public’s questions and concerns. I want to express my support for Leslie’s campaign and let readers know my intention to vote in the upcoming election. The best thing we can do is to spread the word that there is a better alternative for Southwest Washington than what we’ve seen, and that alternative is Leslie Lewallen. In these challenging times, finding a better way is imperative and competent leadership matters greatly. God bless America!
