Vancouver police increased traffic enforcement over the New Year holiday weekend, but officers did not make any DUI arrests New Year’s Eve, according to the agency.
During increased patrols Dec. 29-31, officers conducted 47 traffic stops, arrested five people on suspicion of DUI, arrested six people for other crimes and issued 44 citations for other traffic infractions, according to a Vancouver police news release.
Police also investigated six crashes, including one in which someone crashed into an officer’s car while the officer was conducting an unrelated DUI investigation.
The officer was not in the car at the time, and no one was injured, the department said.
