Letter: Different wars, same suffering

We can all agree that there is no moral equivalence between the origins of Ukraine and Gaza. The Ukraine conflict was started for no reason by a brutal dictator. Gaza started with an attack on Israel by Hamas, which used unthinkable brutality on innocent civilians. The outcome of these two acts resulted in pain and suffering for thousands of innocent men, women and children. The only comparison that can be drawn between Ukraine and Gaza is that violence is a brutish and inhumane response to human conflict. We need to find other solutions to end this cycle. Regardless of the reason, innocent people suffer. This is not acceptable.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
