If one read the latest news about Russia, what would that news be? One would be that Russia murdered its most prominent opposition leader while he was imprisoned. Another, that Russia arrested hundreds of citizens who brought flowers to memorials for that opponent. Another, that Russia murdered its former helicopter pilot on Spanish soil who dared to defect. Another, that Russian mercenaries bribe and dominate at least four central African governments to gain natural resources. And, threats to Poland and Finland and so on.
Another would be the second anniversary of unprovoked invasion of sovereign democratic young nation, Ukraine, with attacks on schools and hospitals and power stations and museums and bread factories and apartment buildings … on people.
One would need much more time, to learn of Russia’s crimes over centuries: Invasions, gulags, executions, induced famines, genocides, Russification. And strange it is to read of American politicians who excuse the bullies, even while America itself is attacked with cyberwarfare. Maybe their bullies and our bullies have something in common.
