Letter: Bureaucrats work for the people

Donald Trump and his followers deplore the “unelected bureaucrats” who are part of the “deep state” they believe rules in the shadows. The “unelected bureaucrats” are federal employees (aka public servants), the hired nonpartisan workforce that keeps the government operational for all Americans, regardless of which party is in power or the machinations of Congress. They aren’t hidden in shadows but commute to offices or field locations to fulfill their daily duties to America’s citizens. Their jobs are critical to the continued operation of the government.
At the same time, Republican members of the House and Senate blindly follow the rule of an unelected authoritarian dictator-wannabe, Donald Trump, a private citizen with four indictments totaling 91 counts awaiting trails for trying to overthrow the 2020 election. They miss the irony.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
