Ellensburg scored the final 22 points of the first quarter and never looked back in a 69-25 rout of Columbia River in a Class 2A girls basketball state opening round game Friday in Ellensburg.
With the loss, eighth-seeded Columbia River (18-7) will face Ridgefield in a Round-of-16 elimination game Wednesday at the Yakima SunDome.
Ellensburg led start to finish. But after Emma Iniguez got the Rapids within 4-2 with an early basket, the top-seeded Bulldogs (22-0) went on a 22-0 run to take a 26-4 lead after one quarter. It was never closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Iniguez had eight points to lead River, and Peyton Dukes added seven.
Bella Standish scored 22 points to lead four Bulldogs in double figure.
