Letter: Renters need relief

By Janet Henderson, Vancouver
Published: February 22, 2024, 6:00am

As a Vancouver resident and renter, I was puzzled by Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, voting no to rent stabilization, without any proposed solution to help the situation.

Something is better than nothing. Like Obamacare isn’t perfect, but it is something to improve on and meanwhile I have health insurance. People need to feel a little security. My lease is up in April and I know with every new lease is an increase in price.

I also read in The Columbian that utilities are increasing about 14.5 percent. In an election year, Annette needs to listen to all of her constituents. Renters vote, too.
