Letter: Pass bill for border, foreign aid

Now that the U.S. House has impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and set up a path to shine a laser beam at the disaster at the border and the Biden administration’s missteps, they should promptly take up the $95 billion Senate bill for aid to Ukraine and Israel.

Speaker Mike Johnson should make it clear that his side of the Capitol will allow amendments and there will be strings attached, including possibly a smaller number to Ukraine. To be sure, the bill shows America’s disdain for tyrants and terrorists. If Johnson continues to block the bill, he demonstrates a GOP out of step with the majority of Americans and the entire free world.

Every Senate Republican who voted for the bill should be in the speaker’s office today — post haste.
