Letter: Trump is a serious threat

Don Howard questioned why many Trump cult followers credit their “belief” in Trump (“Nothing godly about Trump,” Our Readers’ Views, Feb. 5). They believe he is chosen by God for a purpose. Believing in a “lesser God,” these followers ascribe qualities to God that more matches their motives.

Yet, I can see that God could use Trump (an antithesis to all moral qualities) as a way to wake us up. Maybe we took our American freedoms and social justice for granted. Sometimes when you realize that you are about to lose something of value, you are galvanized to action. Act to protect our democracy, vote and speak up, knowing that Trump’s goals are a serious threat to America.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
