Letter: Does anybody really want Trump?

By J.N. White, Vancouver
Published: February 17, 2024, 6:00am

Our elected U.S. representatives need to be reminded they took an oath to protect our nation and Constitution, not an oath to protect The Donald’s campaign. Trump is campaigning as if he were still in office. He is not, but he is an adulterer, a liar, a cheat, tax evader, bankrupted five times and the list goes on.

The national debt rose under his administration as it did under other Republican administrations; taxes went up, morale went down. Backlog of immigration cases doubled under Trump. He had a disdain for traditional diplomacy. He was not physically involved in the Jan. 6 riot, but watched from the White House and did nothing to stop it.

He won the primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire, but instead of thanking his supporters, he chose to slander those that ran against him. Do the people really want this individual to represent our country to the world? Remember, our democracy is fragile.
