Letter: Accept Israel’s right to exist

Refreshing to see that Mr. DeWalt doesn’t hide his true intentions with regard to Israel (“Support Palestinian statehood,” Our Readers’ Views, Feb. 5). He states plainly, in addition to his unconditional support for a Palestinian state (with no caveats about the genocidal Hamas), that what he wants is no state for the Jewish people in Israel. I doubt most readers of The Columbian would agree.

There cannot be a two-state solution until Palestinians accept the right of Israel (where Palestinian Arabs make up 20 percent of the population) to exist. This is something they have refused to do since the U.N. voted to partition the British Mandate for Palestine in 1947. Well, at least he is honest.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
