Clients of Apple Health (Medicaid) insurance may be struggling to find prenatal care in Clark County, according to a news release from Clark County Public Health. Prenatal care can reduce the risk of complications throughout the pregnancy for the parent and baby.
For those having a difficult time finding prenatal care, Public Health encourages residents to call their Apple Health managed care plan to report they’ve been unable to schedule an appointment.
Clients can reach the managed health care plans at the following numbers: Molina Healthcare of Washington: 800-869-7165; Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup Washington): 833-731-2167; Community Health Plan of Washington: 800-440-1561; Coordinated Care of Washington: 253-442-1577; UnitedHealthcare Community Plan: 877-542-8997.
“Clients can ask the care plan to help them find an appointment during their first trimester or right away if they’re seeking care after the first trimester. Clients can ask for help finding the prenatal provider type of their choice: licensed midwife, certified nurse midwife, family medicine doctor, OB/GYN, or maternal fetal medicine specialist (only for those who are considered high risk),” Public Health said.
Clients who are not enrolled in a managed care plan can contact the Washington State Health Care Authority for additional support by calling 800-562-3022 or emailing askmedicaid@hca.wa.gov.
