Letter: Save democracy, reject Trump

By June Yamrick, Vancouver

Trump wants to be in the spotlight (i.e. president) for several reasons: to placate his ego, to absolve himself from his crimes and to exact revenge on his enemies. It’s not “Let’s make America Great Again,” Trump really wants everyone to believe “Let’s make Trump the greatest.”

Trump will discredit the press again and plant in the minds of the public that the media is just another political actor. The decline of freedom which has happened in other countries can happen here if Trump wins the presidency. Only when you join the cult of Trump will you become part of the denigration of democracy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
