Boys basketball roundup: La Center stays alive by eliminating King’s Way 60-55

Austin Nixon scored 19 points and La Center was a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats eliminated King’s Way Christian in the 1A district boys basketball tournament, 60-55, on Friday at La Center.

A close game throughout,  King’s Way (8-15) led 15-12 after the first quarter, then La Center took a 28-25 lead into halftime and led 42-40 going into the final eight minutes.

Anthony Larkin was 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and finished with 12 points for the Wildcats (11-13). Parker McKinney added 10 points.

King’s Way was led in scoring by Jackson Lovato’s 17 points and Jaydon Hall’s 16.

La Center advances to take on Montesano on Wednesday in a loser-out game.

STEVENSON 68, HOQUIAM 58 — Kacen Bach scored 23 points and added seven rebounds as the Bulldogs survived a loser-out game in the 1A district tournament.

Chris Blackledge added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Garrett Funk had 14 points and seven rebounds for Stevenson, which will face Elma in another loser-out game on Wednesday at Rochester High School.
