Hallie Kempf of Camas is 2023-24 Week 17 Columbian prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger

Senior won three events and all-around title at Ridgefield event

Hallie Kempf of Camas gymnastics is the The Columbian 2023-24 Week 17 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Kempf received more than 3,800 votes to win the weekly honor.

The senior won the vault, bars and beam to win the all-around with a score of 36.50 in a meet with Ridgefield, Evergreen and Washougal.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

MASON FREI, PRAIRIE BOYS WRESTLING: Frei improved to 37-7 on the season with two wins, including a pin in the final, to win the 175-pound division at the 3A GSHL district tournament.

LILY MATTISON, R.A. LONG BOWLING: Mattison finished with games of 220, 217 and 226 to win the state title and help R.A. Long win the team title at the 2A-1A state tournament.

TEAGAN TRENDA, HOCKINSON GIRLS WRESTLING: Trenda won two matches by fall to capture the 125-pound division in the 2A-1A girls sub-regional meet at Hockinson.

KAIDEN WILSON, SETON CATHOLIC BOYS BASKETBALL: The freshman scored 20, 20 and 15 points in three league wins as the Cougars clinched a Trico League championship.
