On Oct. 7, Hamas launched an attack that included rape, mutilation, torture and indiscriminate mass shooting of civilians. Some 14,000 rockets have since been fired, specially targeting civilians, by Hamas. All this was still underway on Israeli soil when some people called for a cease-fire.
To what end?
A Hamas state would not bring freedom to anyone, let alone the Palestinians. Handing state power to a terror cartel is not liberation. A Hamas state will have three exports: terror, chaos and refugees. We have a habit of playing midwife to nations nobody wants to live in.
Unfair? With $2.6 billion a year in aid from Qatar, EU, U.S., etc., a Singapore on the Mediterranean might have been created. The U.S., EU, UAE and others pledged to help. Hamas grabbed the aid to build tunnels and terror.
Hamas does not represent hope for the Palestinian people. The many Arab states, who today recognize Israel, have been very deliberative and measured. They know Hamas is a dead end. Some local “activists,” who don’t know the places, peoples or politics of the region, think they know better. They don’t. A Hamas state would be a never-ending disaster for America, Israel and the Palestinian people.
