Vancouver police arrested a man suspected of threatening people with a samurai sword Sunday inside an east Vancouver Walmart that had to be evacuated.

According to police, multiple 911 callers reported about 5:30 p.m. a man was in traffic armed with a samurai sword in the 400 block of Southeast 192nd Avenue.

Police said the suspect, later identified as Ravi Saxena, 43, continued toward the Walmart parking lot, 430 S.E. 192nd Ave., screaming and threatening to hurt people.

Saxena entered Walmart just before police arrived, according to police. Officers evacuated the store and located Saxena. He then surrendered the samurai sword and a 5-inch knife.

There were no injuries reported.

Police arrested Saxena, who is facing allegations of felony harassment with a dangerous weapon and displaying a weapon.
