Boys basketball roundup: Logan Rainey has big night as La Center beats Tenino in overtime

Rainey has 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals

Logan Rainey had 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals as La Center pulled out a 73-68 overtime win over Tenino in a non-league game Wednesday in Tenino.

Jayce Grotte hit a 3-pointer, Peyton Larkin added a basket and Rainey hit two free throws in the overtime period as the Wildcats held Tenino to two points.

Grotte finished with 14 points. Larkin and Parker McKinney added nine points each.

FORT VANCOUVER 58, CENTRALIA 49 — Isaiah Barajas scored 18 points and Leighton Livengood added 16 as the Trappers improved to 4-0 on the season.

Barajas was 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as the Trappers sealed the win.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 76, RAYMOND-SOUTH BEND 43   — Radley Matson-Blighton scored 19 points for King’s Way Christian, which blew the game open with a big second half.

The Knights took a 24-21 lead into halftime, but scored 30 points in third quarter to widen their advantage to 54-32. Matson-Blighton had 12 points in the third quarter outburst.

Rathan Kang scored 12 points on four fourth-quarter 3-pointers.

STEVENSON 53, HORIZON CHRISTIAN 51 — Derek White scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs held off a fourth-quarter comeback by Horizon Christian.

Jude Travinski scored 17 points and all five of his 3-pointers in the first half. He finished with a team-high 20 for Stevenson, which took a 35-24 lead into the fourth quarter.

But Tyler Abbott scored 18 points in the final period for Horizon Christian to make it close.

HERITAGE 64, SHELTON 38 — Jose Zacarias scored nine of his 17 points in the first quarter as Heritage jumped out to a 23-5 lead and coasted to a non-league road win.

Brooks Greenwald added 11 points for the Timberwolves and Jackson Graham scored 10.

HOQUIAM 65, KALAMA 49 — Abel Koski had 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals for Kalama, which ran out of gas after playing its second game in as many nights.

Lincoln Niemi had 14 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter for Hoquiam as the Grizzlies pulled away.

“We hung in there until the fourth and had no answer for the Niemi kid,” Kalama coach Wes Armstrong said. “He lit us up for 32 points. We lost focus defensively at times and shot the ball poorly. Not a good combo for a long road trip.”
