Girls basketball roundup: Prairie finishes strong to beat rival Battle Ground

Harmony Fallin and Gabriella Kay-Corralos each had 12 points as Prairie girls basketball used a strong second half to beat Battle Ground 45-33 on Tuesday.

Prairie (1-0) trailed 20-17 at halftime after being held to one point in the second quarter. But the Falcons made all five of their 3-pointers in the second half.

Charlotte Clarke scored 12 points to lead Battle Ground (0-1).

UNION 76, WASHOUGAL 35 — Brooklynn Haywood scored 35 points and the Titans made 16 3-pointers to imroved to 2-0 with a non-league road win.

LA CENTER 37, HERITAGE 25 — Paige Sherry scored 16 points as the host Wildcats rode their defense to a home win.

Leading 24-17 after three quarters, La Center pulled away as Sherry scored six points and Jesse Tomberlin had all five of her points in the fourth.

Jaila Ellis scored 13 points to lead Heritage.

CENTRALIA 54, HOCKINSON 30 — Zieynita Stidum scored eight points but cold shooting hurt the Hawks at home.

Hockinson (0-2) shot 19 percent from the field and had 28 turnovers.

Centralia did a majority of its scoring at the free-throw line, where the Tigers were 27 for 36.

KELSO 58, R.A. LONG 32 — Peyton Champagne scored 19 points and hit five of the Lassies’ six 3-pointers in a non-league home win.

Briana Garwood scored 13 points to lead the Lumberjills.
