History will show that three influential figures have faithlessly failed America and must share much of the blame for our current political turmoil.
Mitch McConnell has demonstrated that he is more a Republican game player than a patriotic American. He could have changed the course of history had he shown courage that would have led toward a conviction in the second Trump impeachment.
Chief Justice John Roberts failed America in one of the most critical votes ever taken by the Supreme Court. In authoring the decision to grant a president the equivalent of complete immunity for actions that might be regarded as part of the presidential responsibilities, he moved us closer to an authoritarian form of government and perhaps has irreparably damaged America’s faith in the court.
Finally, our attorney general, Merrick Garland, proved in a critical moment that he, too, would play politics rather than do the job of being America’s nonpartisan attorney general. In choosing to delay any investigation of the architect of the Jan. 6 insurrection, he performed one of the most blatant political acts in our history.
Please America, vote character, judgment and temperament and quit playing this divisive and deadly game of partisan politics.
