LONGVIEW — Wahkiakum County officials have identified human remains originally discovered in 2021 as a woman who went missing 20 years before.

The remains have been identified as those of 39-year-old Susan Lynn Ault, who vanished from the Rosburg area in 2001, according to a press release.

Ault’s case has been reclassified to a homicide, after being listed as a missing person all these years.

To identify the remains, the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office obtained a DNA sample from Ault’s daughter.

Wahkiakum County Coroner Dan Bigelow said in the press release that “these findings do not end the investigation into her disappearance.”
