Meandering down 136th Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard and hitting every red light at every intersection got me thinking about how our various governments seem to not be in sync.
Our governor is rightly trying to get us on the road to reducing emissions, both transportation and housing. But cities and counties are not doing much to decrease emissions, development keeps sprawling, new developments have traffic lights instead of roundabouts, the lights aren’t timed, side street demand for left turns for one car can stop dozens of main thoroughfare cars, and the big buses on Fourth Plain and Mill Plain don’t seem to have put a dent into trip reduction.
I guess we’ll have wait for boomers and Gen X officials to die out to get some modern thinking into our governance.
