Here we go again. Sigh.
In “Bridge replacement in suspense” (Aug. 17), The Columbian outlines how Brad Benton and John Ley are playing politics with the long-delayed Interstate 5 Bridge replacement.
You recall Brad’s dad, Don, killed the previous effort, costing us 10 years and doubling the price. Good work, Mr. Conservative.
Now that we’re on track to replace these iron legends, here come Benton and Ley with the same canards used years ago: Light rail will be a “one-way homelessness superhighway.”
Like we don’t have homeless people. Or that light rail would help many thousands working in Portland get to work more easily. Or that it will bring curious Portlanders up to our waterfront.
