A Vancouver man was taken to the hospital early Friday after being assaulted by a golf club-wielding man that Clark County sheriff’s deputies believe is the victim’s uncle.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called about 1 a.m. to a home in the 4700 block of Northwest Division Street in west Vancouver for a report of an assault with a weapon.

They found a 36-year-old man with injuries to his head and face. The victim said the suspect showed up at the home unannounced and hit him multiple times with the golf club before leaving in a newer gray Mercedes-Benz that was believed to be a rental.

Deputies are searching for the suspect, though they didn’t release any description or other information.
The reason for the assault is also under investigation.

The sheriff’s office said it has probable cause to arrest the suspect for first-degree assault.
