Cruisin’ to the end
Beaches restaurant, which will close at the end of the year, hosts its last few Summertime Cruisin’ events Wednesdays through Sept. 25 at Portland International Raceway in North Portland. The event raises funds for nonprofit organizations and features hot rods, exotic sports cars and motorcycles as well as live music, food carts, a full bar, drag racing and a picnic area. Vehicle registration opens at 3 p.m. and is $5 per person in a show ride or $5 per motorcycle. Spectators arrive at 4 p.m.; admission is $10 per person and free for ages 12 and younger. Heal the beach
The nonprofit Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington will host a Day of Healing the Wimahl (Columbia River) from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Cottonwood Beach at Captain William Clark Park in Washougal. The event will include a morning volunteer beach cleanup, a free noontime workshop on making flower offerings and trash art (which will be displayed at Vancouver’s La Casita Art Gallery and Cultural Center), and an afternoon dance and drumming ceremony by dance group Huehca Omeyocan. Treats for humans and dogs
The Cedar Creek Grist Mill, one of the few remaining water-powered grist mills in the United States, will host Treat Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 43907 N.E. Grist Mill Road, Woodland. No end to cruise-in
Alderbrook Park in east Clark County hosts a Friday Night Cruise-in from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday through Sept. 13 at 24414 N.E. Westerholm Road, Brush Prairie. Vehicle registration is $5 to $10; spectator admission is $3 to $8. Alderbrook Park features disc golf, train rides, mini golf, pedal boats, a swimming pool, cafe and a beer garden.
