Letter: Housing First requires security

By Ceci Ryan Smith, VANCOUVER

Thank you for your forthright comments describing Housing First (“Can Housing First work in the face of Clark County’s fentanyl crisis?,” The Columbian, Aug. 24). As former chair of the Vancouver Housing Authority, the resident’s reporting is correct. There are numbers of unsafe, unaddressed actions and unintended consequences within this kind of housing. It is unconscionable not to have 24-hour security.
