Vancouver police are investigating an early Wednesday morning homicide in central Vancouver, according to the agency.

Police Cmdr. Kathy McNicholas would not say Wednesday afternoon whether there was a current threat to the community. She said investigators were still working to identify any victims and search for video that may have captured the incident.

The department did not release any information about the specifics of the homicide but said it happened about 4 a.m. in the 3500 block of Northeast 66th Avenue near the intersection of state Highway 500 and Andresen Road.

Pieces of yellow and red crime scene tape remained in the afternoon tied to a fence at the edge of a green space along the highway. Several tents that people appeared to be living in stood vacant.

The agency said it will release more information in the future.
