A few weeks ago, the streetlight in front of my house stopped working. This light provides welcome protection for the eight families living here. When I reported the outage to the city of Vancouver, I was told it will take up to three months for a repair. Since the families pay a large amount of money for the cost of this service, can we deduct 25 percent of that cost from our tax bill and hire a local electrician to do the repair in a day?
