Letter: Health care is diminished

By Greg Flakus, VANCOUVER

I read the article that reported plans for PeaceHealth and Lifestyle to build a 50-bed rehabilitation facility (The Columbian, Aug. 17). The article made no mention of the fact that Lifestyle was bought and is now owned by Apollo private equity, one of the top three in the world. These firms are buying up health facilities and clinics and when they take over, costs rise and service declines. This is a disturbing trend that our state legislators need to be vigilant about.
