Vancouver is a town searching for its identity. In the 15 years I’ve been hanging out here, I have seen a lot of changes, mostly negative. To make matters worse, this city is doing everything it can to self-destruct. What once was a place that had a future for the people living here, now has sunk into daily ho-hum and nobody seems to care what goes on around here. People here have no pride, much less a sense of direction.
Vancouver is turning into a warehouse district. Soon all the open spaces, cow pastures, and places where you could see grass and rabbits running around will be gone. Have the city fathers gone totally mad? Has greed and future urban planning gone through the window? What crazy people are running this town anyway? I can remember the day I could say to somebody I live in Orchards; now I just get blank stares like who cares?
Vancouver needs to figure out who we are and where we are going. Or we run the risk of losing whatever this town was or could be.
