A 36-year-old man falls to his death while climbing Del Campo Peak

A 36-year-old man died after falling more than 40 feet while climbing at Del Campo Peak in eastern Snohomish County on Monday morning, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The man was climbing with a friend when he fell into rocky terrain around 9 a.m. Monday. His climbing partner unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him, according to the release.

Search and rescue teams from the county recovered the man’s body and airlifted him to Taylor’s Landing to be examined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office, the release said. The medical examiner will identify the victim and determine the cause of his death.
