Letter: What if we had a democracy?

We continue to hear about voting and our democracy. Just think if we had a democracy and not a republic. Remember in 2016 Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump, was the winner by almost 3 million votes. But the Electoral College gave the vote to Trump. Maybe, since we talk about being a democracy all of the time, we should get rid of the Electoral College and count the votes of the people instead.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
