Letter: Keep felons out of White House

By John Abbott, Camas
Published: August 20, 2024, 6:00am

Let’s set aside party and policies for a moment and focus on one very important issue. We should never vote to put a convicted felon and sex abuser into the White House. I don’t care what party he or she is or what their policies are. Does this make me a “single-issue voter”? On this topic, yes, I am a single-issue voter.

More so, I don’t even think convicted felons should be allowed to run for national office. And on a related topic, I will not vote for any candidate who supports electing a convicted felon and sex abuser into the White House as doing so demonstrates significantly impaired judgment — judgment they would have to rely on in their role as an elected official.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
