Holden Bea’s college football career at the University of Idaho has gotten off to an unfortunate start.

Bea, a freshman quarterback from Washougal, suffered what appeared to be a serious leg injury in the Vandals’ second preseason scrimmage on Saturday.

Bea had to be carried off the field with a leg injury after being tackled near the sideline on a running play, and he left the Kibbie Dome on crutches, the Spokane Spokesman-Review reported

Idaho coach Jason Eck said the team did not immediately know how seriously Bea was hurt but acknowledged, “it looks pretty bad.”

Bea is one of four local players on the Idaho team this fall, along with offensive lineman Ryan Kawalek (La Center), wide receiver Trenton Swanson (Camas) and tight end Jonathan Stromberg (Skyview).
