I received a letter from United Healthcare regarding an “important update.” Upon opening and reading it, I was concerned by the impression it gave of a contentious situation between the two large health care entities here in Vancouver.
I want to express my concern about the potential dissolution of my United Healthcare Medicare Advantage contract with Legacy Health in Vancouver. This change could significantly disrupt my access to the care I rely on and the continuity of treatment essential for my ongoing health management. The possibility of being forced to find new health care providers or facing higher out-of-pocket costs is distressing, given the stability and quality of care provided by my current team.
While I understand that negotiations between providers and health plans are necessary to reach an agreeable resolution, I am worried about the impact this may have on patients like myself, and at what cost to the patient?
