Clark County Public Health is warning residents not to swim or drink water from Round Lake in Camas because elevated cyanotoxins were detected in water tested Monday. Warning signs are being placed at public access points around the lake.

“Cyanotoxins can be harmful to people, especially young children, and deadly for small pets that drink the water,” Public Health spokeswoman Marissa Armstrong said in a Thursday news release.

Visitors to the lake should also prevent their pets from making contact with the water and should be careful to avoid areas of scum when boating, paddleboarding, kayaking or canoeing. Anglers should be careful to clean fish thoroughly and discard all organs.

The same warning advisory remains in place for Lacamas Lake in Camas as a result of water tests taken this week.

Additional information about harmful algal blooms and current advisories are posted on the Public Health website: https://clark.wa.gov/public-health/public-beaches.
