Letter: Thanks to voters in Fire District 3

By Scott Sorenson, fire chief, Clark County Fire District 3
Published: August 13, 2024, 6:00am

On behalf of Clark County Fire District 3, I want to thank residents for supporting the fire levy lid lift on the Aug. 6 ballot. Fire District 3 provides fire and life safety services to 46,000 people in east Clark County, including the city of Battle Ground. The levy lid lift will fund 24-hour staffing at all five stations to reduce response times, additional paramedic-certified firefighters and modern medical equipment to improve survival rates, and replacement of an aging ambulance.

By maintaining emergency service levels, Fire District 3 will also retain its risk rating, so homeowner insurance premiums are not impacted. Residents’ tax dollars will continue to pay for emergency fire and medical service rather than rising insurance rates.

We want our taxpayers to know that we will report back as these improvements are made. This is your fire district, and we answer to you. Thank you for partnering with us to save lives and property. We are grateful for the support.
