Tuesday’s Game: Walla Walla Sweets 7, Ridgefield Raptors 5 (click here for boxscore)

Recap: The Raptors (30-22) and Sweets (20-32) traded run-for-run until Walla Walla took the lead for good with a two-run sixth inning on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to win the series opener at Borleske Stadium.

Raptors bats: Hunter Katschke (Utah Tech) hit his ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first inning. … Dasan Harris (Oklahoma) went 2 for 2 with a triple and scored two runs. …  Safea Mauai (Chaminade) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. … Doyle Kane (U. of San Diego) and Colby Wallace (CS Fullerton) each drove in a run.

Raptors arms: Wyatt Nichol (Pepperdine) started his eighth game and took a no-decision. He went the first three innings, giving up three runs on five hits with a strikeout and four walks. … Logan Anderson (Portland) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits. … Joseph Jasso (College of the Canyons) finished up with 2 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit with three strikeouts and a walk.

Up next: The Raptors stay in the Land of Onions for game 2 at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. If Ridgefield can win an equal number or more games than Portland over the final two games, the  Raptors will win the second-half title in the South Division and earn the No. 2 seed to the West Coast League playoffs. (Portland beat Kelowna 15-0 on Tuesday.)
