Let this serve as a warning that if you plan to attend a concert event at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, take a sleeping bag. I say this only partly in jest.
After attending the Chris Stapleton concert, which was fabulous, my girlfriend and I spent nearly two hours to get to my home in Mount Vista, less than five miles from the event. The concert ended before 11 p.m., and we rolled into my garage at 1 a.m. The parking lot and traffic control had to be the biggest buzzkill we have ever experienced after such a fun night.
The parking staff appeared to be dazed and very confused, uttering profanities and comments indicating that they weren’t being paid enough to do the job. I can’t speak to that issue, but given the chaos, I would probably agree.
I now fully understand why residents closest to the fairgrounds voiced frustration back when the amphitheater was built. A serious lack of planning has created a nightmare for concertgoers. I wrote to Live Nation, the organizers for the event, but doubt that our $400 expense to get in will have much influence. Bottom line: plan for a long evening.
