Battle Ground Mayor Troy McCoy recently earned an advanced certificate of municipal leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. The program offers training in five core areas: Roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements; public sector resource management; community planning and development; effective local leadership; and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

McCoy completed more than 60 hours of training and demonstrated local community service.

McCoy was elected to the Battle Ground City Council in November 2021. He began his two-year term as mayor in January. He previously served as a member of the Battle Ground Education Foundation and the Battle Ground school board.

New business news

Portland automotive care company Green Drop Garage has opened a location at 3800 Main St., Vancouver. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visit greendropgarage.com.

Other business news

Van Mall Retirement, 7808 N.E. 51st St., Vancouver, was sold July 15 for $28 million. The assisted- and independent-living facility had been owned by Lytle Enterprises, based in Bellevue. The new owner is listed in Clark County property tax documents as Van Mall Propco, a limited liability corporation with a Sandpoint, Idaho, mailing address. Van Mall Retirement was built in 1989 and expanded in 1994.
